SatNEx is a European Network of Experts for satellite communications, coordinated by the German Aerospace Center DLR. The first two phases of SatNEx were funded by the EU from 2004 to 2009. The third phase, SatNEx-III, comprises 17 partners and is co-funded by ESA from 2010 to 2013. A core team consisting of DLR, University of Surrey, and University of Bologna is coordinating the SatNEx-III research activities. Specific research tasks are contracted to partners in the frame of annual “Call-off Orders”. SatNEx-III will be concluded in early 2014, and possibly followed by SatNEx-IV.
The 7th Advanced Satellite Multimedia Systems Conference (ASMS) and the 13th Signal Processing for Space Communications (SPSC) Workshop will be jointly organized by the DEIS and ARCES Institutions of the University of Bologna, the DLR Institute for Communications and Navigation, the European Space Agency, and Toscana Spazio. It will take place in Livorno (Italy), 8-10 September 2014.
The SatNEx Summer School 2013 was organised by the University of Surrey and was held in June 2013.
The SatNEx-III annual progress meeting 2013 was held at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK, June 24/25, 2013. The main focus of the meeting was on the presentation of status of the frame contract tasks, as well as on the presentation of the status and results of the tasks of call-off order 3. Moreover, a possible follow-up phase (SatNEx-IV) was discussed.
The SatNEx-III final assembly meeting was held on February 11-12, 2014 at ESA/ESTEC in Noordwijk (Netherlands).
